Become familiar with your auto insurance policy
In order to prevent honoring diminished value claims, some auto insurers adopt their own policy language. You should familiarize yourself with your own auto policy before you get into an accident in order to lessen the surprise of not receiving the diminished value for your car. If there is a diminished value exclusion within your policy, it generally is located near the end of your policy as an “auto exclusion endorsement.” Many people are blindsided by this exclusion because they expect to recoup enough money to make up for their loss. The exception to this rule is in Georgia, where car owners have a right to receive the diminished value of their car.
