What is Functional hallux limitus
When something that affects the way we walk it is what we call Functional hallux limitus. It is a problem with the range of motion of the big toe joint of the foot. We really need motion at that joint so that body can move forward over the foot when the foot is on the ground. If the joint does not move then the forward movement will be impaired. If the body is to move forward it has to get the motion that it cannot get at the big toe joint at other joints. This compensation at other joint can be hurting as motion is occurring at a time when it should not be happening.
