There are two very common methods of discount lighting which are enormously popular in present era. These are downward lighting and upward lighting. Downward lighting is again most populous method which means that lighting system be fixed in a way to throw light from upper direction to lower direction. It is widely used in offices, public and private buildings. In this method more lights are used and energy consumption is very high. Upward lighting is very less used method in illumination. It is used where fewer glares is required. It is again an indirect use of throwing lights. In this method, light is thrown upward direction where there is reflective surface and then it bounces back towards downward direction to create its impact.
