When a tiny, gray-haired woman moved in next door to our Georgia condo, I went over and introduced myself.  Her name is Ms. Maynard and I found that she is a true Southern belle.  As she told me about her debutante days, I noticed that she did, indeed, have the genteel manners and soft voice of a lady.  What stunned me was the fact that she is also a practicing attorney.  Ms. Maynard went on to talk about going to college against her parents wishes and passing the New York State Bar Exam.  She still practices and I have grown to respect this steel magnolia who can take apart a witness as easily as she arranges flowers.
